Where some of the best Organic Red Hibiscus sabdariffa, Sorrel/Roselle can be found. Many names, one great taste

Our store's offering is one product at this time. Red Hibiscus Flowers ( Hibiscus sabdariffa). This plant, in our opinion, and that opinion is based on a decade of herbal sales in the very first House of Osain in Albany, GA. The plant is affectionally known all over the world as Roselle, Sorrel, Jamaican Sorrel in English speaking countries but also known by many other names in other cultural dialects.
We chose this one because of its diverse uses and it’s ability to refresh the appetite and spirit. It is one of the most refreshing drinks available in the herbal kingdom! Ultimately, we think that it has the potential to become a must have in everyone’s home.
Check it out and familiarize yourself with it. Our flowers are available to you in a slightly processed form of being only cut and sifted where you only get the flowers ready for brewing. All organic for your health and peace of mind. Alaafia!

Botanically named Hibiscus sabdariffa, is a shrub belonging to the Malvaceae family. Originally from Africa and Caribbean countries like West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.
In English-speaking countries, Roselle is called Red Sorrel.
(You will see both Sorrell and Roselle here)

Red hibiscus has been used as a therapeutic plant for centuries. Traditionally, it treats toothaches, urinary tract infections, colds, and even hangovers. In Senegal, roselle juice extracted from leaves is used to treat conjunctivitis and, when pulverized, soothes sores and ulcers.

Sorrel is an easy to grow shrub and reaches tall heights. It can be easily identified with its bright red stems. It produces a lot of appealing flowers which have a distinctive look. And also, at every node, it produces a calyx. Fresh as well as dried calyces are an essential part and are used in food preparation.

A report from the AHA (American Heart Association) that was published in November of 2008 states that consuming hibiscus tea lowers the blood pressure in pre-hypertensive and mildly hypertensive adults
According to the book “Healing Herbal Teas,” fresh hibiscus flowers contain around 6.7 mg of ascorbic acid, a form of vitamin C, which is one of the more essential nutrients needed by the body.
If you consume food that is rich in carbohydrates, that means that it contains sugar and starch, so you are likely to gain weight. However, research studies have suggested that hibiscus extract lowers the absorption of starch and glucose and may help with weight loss.
Red hibiscus tea, also known as roselle or sorrel, is a popular herbal tea that has been associated with numerous health benefits. Some other potential benefits of drinking red hibiscus tea also include:
* Reducing cholesterol levels: Hibiscus tea contains compounds that may help lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL ("good") cholesterol.
* Packed with antioxidants: The deep red color of hibiscus tea comes from anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that can help reduce inflammation and protect against cell damage.
* Supporting liver health: Some research suggests that hibiscus tea may have a protective effect on the liver and help improve liver function.
* Aiding digestion: Hibiscus tea has been traditionally used to support digestion, soothe intestinal inflammation, and relieve constipation.
* Antimicrobial properties: Hibiscus tea has been shown to have antibacterial and antifungal effects, which could help fight infections and support overall immune health.
As with any herbal remedy, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider before incorporating hibiscus tea into your daily routine, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. But overall, this vibrant and flavorful tea can be a great addition to a healthy lifestyle!
